The PREPARE tab contains all components used to select, extract, or transform geometric data before running design, analysis, or optimization workflows. These tools help define functional regions, isolate surfaces, pick points, and apply controlled transformations on any imported geometry.

Select CAD Faces

Picks whole faces off a CAD model. Because a BRep already knows where each face begins and ends, one click grabs an entire bore, pad or fillet cleanly — this is the most precise way to define functional regions, and the main reason to import STEP rather than STL.

What to select

Select everything the design must not alter or must be attached to: bearing bores, mounting faces, sealing surfaces, bolt seats. These same selections then drive the generative components and the simulation setup.

Select Mesh Faces / Select Triangles

Paints a selection onto a mesh with a brush. Use it when you have no CAD model to pick faces from — on an STL, a generative result, or any triangulated shape.
